What Is Commercial Rent Arrears Recovery (CRAR)?

Commercial Rent Arrears Recovery was introduced in April 2014, following the common law remedy of distress becoming unused.

In order to use CRAR, a notice of enforcement must be issued to the tenant with at least 7 days notice.

As a result, this left landlords in a difficult position with no real view of how they could get rent recovered. Further to this, in June 2021, the suspension was sadly extended to 25 March 2022.
